Rules rules rules. So many rules. Don't stay out too late. Don't go over the speed limit. And how about the all famous golden rule? Do unto others as you want others to do unto you. They are all here for a purpose. Sure they keep us safe and civilized. But is there a rule for keeping us sane? As a matter of fact there is! It is called rule #62 It goes as follows:
DON'T TAKE YOURSELF SO DANG SERIOUSLY!!
Life can be tough. Life can be hard, weird or all around troublesome. It can also be super wonderfully fantastic. The point is, I get myself so worked up sometimes over the most trivial of matters. My feelings are valid and I do not disregard how I feel, but I do need to keep a sense of perspective. I can obsess all day over something I wish I had or hadn't said. But when it comes down to it, things are always OK. Relax. Lighten up. So you were wrong. So things didn't go smoothly. Sometimes all you can do is smile, throw up your hands and remember-it's all good. Life goes on.
I do it because it works.
I do it because I live a life of recovery.
