Trudging the road
John Lennon once said. When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down 'happy'. They told me I didn't understand the assignment, and I told them they didn't understand life.
Happiness truly is the key to life. I really am happy today. It hasn't always been that way. I've learned that happiness is a choice a decision that I have to make constantly. My sponsor and I were talking tonight about a lot of experiences that have happened in our lives. We were also discussing how over the years our outlook has changed. Now he's a very practical individual, I guess you could say he's pragmatic. He likes to see proof and the practicality of things. When it comes to me I don't need proof to believe. I guess I just have this underlying faith. Now that's not to say that my way is better than his or his way is better than mine. We're just different. One of the coolest things though is that were both happy. Ultimately the end game for both of us is the same. Live one day at a time. To not drink or use drugs and to love people and meet them where they're at. We have different opinions on life. But as we share our views with each other it broadens our understanding. I see the world through his eyes & he gets to see its through mine. People often say we become the company we keep. So in my life today I surround myself with positive individuals. People that have goals, integrity & wisdom. I have beautiful people in my life today that I love very much!!!! People that I would go to the end of the earth to make happy. Cool thing is they would do the same.
We shall be with you in the Fellowship of the Spirit and you will surely meet some of us as you trudge the road of happy destiny. May God bless you and keep you until then. -AA Big Book-
